I have several DVDs of home movies, and vacation trips, places, etc that I would like to edit out the redundant scenes to make a smaller versions. and sometimes add titles, narration, etc What software is best for this. I have looked at DVD shrink and decrypt, remake, and others but cannot tell if they can really do this. I have IMtoo ripper and have used this to rip the files, then used windows movie maker to accomplish this, but it appears that I am losing picture quality as they do not appear to keep the resolution, etc.

Is there anything better.
