I've done some searches without finding a good answer...

How can I boot PSX games/copies/imports on a PS2 using Swap Magic (my version is 3.3) as the initial boot disc?

I've heard that Breaker Pro can't be booted like this and that Gameshark can, possibly requiring an extra swap back to SM before the game.

Does anyone know which specific versions of Gameshark WILL work? Thank you!

Do you mean I *can't* do it with SM, only Breaker Pro and Gameshark?

I know somebody has used Swap Magic to boot Gameshark in order to boot PSX games on PS2, but what version of Gameshark?

Hi FieroGT42.... ismith is absolutly right.. unfortunatly swap magic won't boot PSX games but I've found 4 ways to do it....

1. Use Breaker Pro
2. PSX Game Shark (V4 or under) GameShark Lite works really good too
3. If you have a V9 PS2 (SPCH-50001) and you are running a memory card exploit, there is an .elf file called Launch.elf that has a PS2 Browser option which, at the browser screen it shows a Black PSX disc icon, but the actual disc isn't spinning, at that point you can swap for the backup.
4. Get a modchip ( I guess that's obvious )
I read up quite a bit about ways to boot PSX backups and finally traded my V7 PS2 for a V9... Perhaps the next version of Swap Magic could have an extra disc for PSX games...who knows...

Hi FieroGT42, There is another method of booting PS1/PSX games on PS2 If u have a fliptop (or V12). U boot with a PS1/PSX original, but there is a trick(very crude but works) as u boot the original game u watch the TV screen, before the PSX logo comes up, u will see a screen flicker (a white trace goes from top to bottom of the screen very quickly) the instant this happens grab hold of the spinning disc pull it out & swap for the copy & it will work. I used this method for a month or so while waiting 4 my copy of Breaker Pro. The only real problem with this method is that u have 2 be careful not 2 harm your discs because the spindle is still spinning, both when u take it out & when putting the copy in. Grabing hold of the spindle & stopping it is my chosen method. Not good for it but as I said ive done it a lot of times & all my 3 PS2s r still going (V5, V7, V12)

FieroGT42 smart move as i said it is a very crude method of booting PS1 games (it does work however). I would suggest Breaker Pro (http://www.divineo.cn/cgi-bin/div-cn/process.html?id=UpYVzZRe) this link will give u a look cut & paste it 2 your browser - the brackets.
