Just got hold of Swap Magic 3.6 and the magic tool set with the three bits of plastic. I'd read that you need the newer version of this kit with the extra bit of plastic for the new sliver Slimline models as the the large bit of plastic that goes near the hinge at the back won't fit in these, but that the older 3-piece set was fine for black models.

Oh no it aint.

Unless I'm reading the instructions totally wrong, there's no space to insert this tool at the back on my PS2 (slim - black), there's a piece of silver metal in that area which has no space around it for anything to be inserted.

I can only assume that the new black models have the same design as the silver ones and thus need the newer kit, which includes the cap for the microswitch inside the unit.

Is there any way to keep this switch pressed without ordering this new kit? Would a bit of tape or blutak do the job or is the switch too "strong" for that?

Any advice appreciated.

if you are refering to part C i will suggest you instead to open your PS2 and use duct tape to hold down the inside sensor

I think I'll give that a try tbh. Will any old sort of tape do or does it need to be strong stuff like duct tape to hold it down?
