I'd just rent the game myself, then create my own backup. I've only download one game, but the process using bit-torrent took way to long. Besides, if you make your own copy, you get the results you are seeking.

Yeah, true... but NONE of us here use our mod chips for illegal uses, right guys? We're all doing it in case some of our personally owned original copies get lost/stolen/broken.

That was such a lame question "got the original...breaking the laws." If the mod-chip was legal, then that happy 1-800 number wouldn't show up on games that are detected by it, thus, we are all in the same ocean, floating in the same boat, regardless of having the original or not. Any way, don't bring up breaking the rules to me again, until you can look in the mirror and tell yourself that your PS2 and Computer isn't "breaking the rules."
As far as originals go, for near about every copy I have, it's has a parent original. Just like with mp3 albums, it's best to rip and burn copies to keep the originals intact, scratch free, etc. I don't have a house full of kids, but I'm sure there are other parents out here that appreciate the ability to make back ups and be able to use them. Young toddlers aren't old enough to realize the importance of keeping a game disc from being scratched, and they aren't supposed to realize that. Thank goodness for means of making back-ups.
All-in-all, this is a friendly come back to that quoted remark I made that was expressed back to me. I'm sure the remark wasn't meant to be sarcastic or mean, but it got my attention. I always say, "cast the first stone when you, yourself, are doing nothing wrongful.

My copy works fine. The load times aren't quick, but they aren't that bad either.
