i have had the dvd decrypter for over a year without any incident. i use it strictly for decrypting & nothign else. i use it as a prelude to dvd shrink, then clone dvd.
in the past few days i have noticed that the majority of the dvds that i have been attempting to back up have been stalling at around the 50% mark. I looked up how to handle the situation at numerous sites, but nothing has worked. i have attempted to change the settings, uninstalled/reinstalled, ect to no avail. its odd because some disks work while others do not. and they all go fine until around the 50-52% of the decrpting process.
when it stalls i get a big screen that says I/O error. Further down it says Invalid Field in the CDB. when this occurs i continue to hit retry retry retry followed continously by ignore ingore ignore until it retries on its own. i read at one place that if it keeps retrying it will eventually work. i have been up to 1000+ retries while it remains stalled. anyway, where is a log of a typical dvd decrypting failure. i hope somebody here will be able to lend some assistance to this amateur. thanks.

The last 4 lines of your log shows the problem. The original can't be read. It could be that the original is dirty, has finger prints or smudges on it, or badly scratched or damaged. If the original looks good, then you could have an original that was pressed badly at the factory. This is getting to be a common problem these days. Only recourse is to exchange the original for a new one. Make sure in Decrypter's settings you have Use brute force and Ignor read errors both checked. Usually when ripping a dvd, if you get past the first 15% of the rip and then have problems, its usually not the software. Most likely the original disc.
oddly, it is certain dvds from specific boxsets that are giving me problems. for instance, 1 & 3 disk of sopranos will work in season 2. in season 4, only disk 3 won't work. same with six feet under. all of the disks are in impeccable condition. so its weird? i wouldn't think that it would necessarily only be witht he disks. i didn't think that my software is necessarily to blame. but maybe i need to update firmware? i don't know. isn't it odd that every single disk ends within 2% of each other at 50-52%? thats what is perplexing. thanks for the response. i made sure that both of my settings have been changed. there are various types of brute force options, so i'll fiddle around with that. thanks again.
Whats bad about bad pressings on the original is that the disc will look perfect. DVDs are pressed from a master disc like the old music records. Therefore if the master is defective, there can be thousands of that disc that are bad and won't rip, but will play OK on a player. In your case since you are having problems with several discs it may be something like firmware needing updated. Check this site which deals mostly with firmware.
alright. one of the disks that wasn't working finally did last night, albeit it took a while longer. now, using DVD Shrink, it freezes halfway through & an error screen pops up. what does this mean, now? does that mean by decryption really didn't work? or that it is corrupted? furthermore, i have another decryption that when i try to shrink, dvd shrinks has an error screen that pops up that says it cannot find the files in that folder when they were clearly right there.
it seems as though everything is stopping to work at the same time. yipes.
