hi, just wondering if someone can recomend a program or method for ripping all or just segments of video/audio from DVDs. Basically i want to rip the footage off the disc and then edit it using various post programs, so idealy i require it in an AVI format. Ive tried DVD2AVI but found it a little buggy and sometimes the satuation levels became unstable. Surley there is a program out there that i can load a dvd into my drive and then tell it to convert each chapter to AVI. Any ideas?

Hi,

I use DVDDecrypter to get the DVD's .VOB files onto the hard disc.

I then use AGKnot to convert these .VOBs to .AVIs.

For a typical 2hr movie, my 2.4GHz Celeron D will do the entire process in under 3hrs, converting ca. 6GB of VOB to ca. 2GB of AVI.

Where do you get AGKnot please. If I look for it on a search engine, I mainly get lists of forums where it is discussed. Your reply came 5th.

Can you tell me more about imtoo, please.
I note that the home page says you can rip in high quality, but can you maintain the same image quality as the original? And will this programme work with PAL DVD or only NTSC?

I rip PAL, 100% original quality, to .AVI from .VOB.
