I have been burning dvds for a while now and have always used maxell dvds with no problem but now i understand that the problems with cheap media sometimes dont show up for a while. I was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with maxell dvd+r. Thanks for any comments.

Maxell media quality? These perform just as good as the taiyo yuden, verbatim data life plus,on my benq 1620s.Also great playback on my many different stand alones and pc drives. There may be a few burners that don't care for them. It's a very good media if you buy it locally, and it always goes on sale for under 40 cents apiece.

Maxell +r is my favorite over the dash maxells. You have several different manufacturers of their 4x and 8x media.

+4x- Ricohjpn-01: Made in taiwan
+8x-Maxell-002-00: Made in Japan by hitachi
+8x Ritek-r03: Made in taiwan

If problems occur due to this media, usually a firmware update takes care of it.
My new HP 640c coastered out a maxell-002-00 full hub printable within 2 days after I got this pc,benq 1620 took it's slot in the pc. I've burned a ton of the plus and dash maxells, all very good despite being made by many different manufacturers.Beware of the dash maxells in the 3 or 5 pack that are made in taiwan, cmags have been reported. These smaller jewel packs of dash need to be from Japan.

Here's some dash manufactures of Maxell:
-4x: Mxl-rg02: Made in japan
-4x: Tyg-Go2: Made in japan
-4x: Ritek-g04: Made in taiwan
-4x: Small 3 or 5 pack jewel cases made in taiwan: CMC-Mags
-8x: Ritek-G05: Made in japan
-8x: Mxl-rg03: Made in japan

Other than those cmags,I'd take any of those manufacturers any day of the week.Staples/Office depot are my favorite stores to find these on sale.

You have all those different manufacturers using the Maxell brand name. That is where some burner have problems. You burn those Maxell-002-00 very well, and your next spindle are Ritek-r03. It's all about firmware so it has to be updated every now and then.

Search those shrink wrappers on them for the ones Made In Japan. When you find them on sale, both the spindles of taiwanese and japanese will be mixed together. For the same price, pick out the Made in Japan. The best media in the world other than verbim is Made in Japan..
