I'm hoping someone can answer this. My brother, nephew and I like to play shooter games on the gamecube. What we'd like to be able to do is have the video feed from the cube split to different monitors, so that you can see each other when you are playing metal arms, or time splitters 2 or other shooter games. Is this sort of thing possible? Is there a video splitter that can take the signal and send it do different monitors? I haven't a clue where to look to find something like that.

no not possible.
The GC has only one Video output. the split screen is a software split and not a video split. so no not possible. ever.

Actually, if you were able to split the video into 4 outputs, and had monitors that would let you scroll the screen/zoom in far enough, you could have each one focus on a corner... that's pretty close...

actually, it would be kinda cool to see it happen, like the xbox is able to connect more than one system via crossover cable or router, somebody who knows about codeing should make this possible with a game like ghost recon.
meh, just my $0.02

To those who said its all software and not possible, I beg to differ. It may be software coming from the cube, but once it leaves that box it's translated into a video signal. The signal that comes to the tv at that point, is that same as coming from a vcr, dvd etc. You can already do this with video feeds from security cameras that split screen on monitors. I was just wondering if anyone had ever given serious thought to pursuing it from a gamer's perspective. You loose so much when going head to head with someone if they can see where you are and what you are doing. I mean it's what makes PC gaming head to head so darn fun. I'm just surprised that Xbox, GameCuber and PS2 haven't caught on to how much of a seller it could make their projects.

It's possible to split videosignals to multiple TVs, long time ago i saw my friend's friend had a "wall-TV" 4x4(16 TVs), one signal.
It has a somekind of box that splits videosignal to as many signals as you want.
You can ask from some local electronic-store about that. It's quite easy to build that, i think.
And i maybe found accidentally something about that with Google some time ago, but it was Finnish...

Back to the topic...
He asked if it was possible to instead of 4 split screens, have 4 screens.. the answer is a resounding NO. Yes you can split the Signal to multiple monitors. What the end result would look like would be a very bad pixelated view of the game. The screen is designed to be a certain size, and the GPU on the GC sends images accordingly, by changing it to be a full scfreen per split you would be causing the pixels to increase by 4X the size. So again, not possible in the way you want it to work.
Anyone else want to read the topic befor jumping the gun?

How about YOU read what he said before jumping the gun. He wanted to be able to play shooters with his friends and/or brother without being able to see the other person's screen. Splitting the signal by 4 would give you a better view of your corner of the screen, and if you used Progressive scan and used monitors, I'm sure there wouldn't be much loss at all.

OK, me and my buddies used to play GoldenEye for 64 just about 24/7. We'd play team multiplayer, and we would use a splitter to go to 2 tv's. Then, we'd have players 1 and 2 teamed up on the top half of the screen, and players 3 and 4 teamed up on the bottom half of the screen. We'd put the tv's back to back and tape a thin piece of cardboard over the bottom half and top half of the screens respectively, And turn off the ole radar.
This worked awesomely for us, and is probably your only real way of doing this sort of thing.

No he wouldn't. Haven't you seen those giant sets of TVs all displaying different parts of one image? There ARE splitters that do this.

Actually this is possible! I've done it with both my X-Box & GameCube! Only to TWO TVs though (It was teams of 2). So anyway you just take the Audio/Video outputs and put them into a splitter, then take each one & put it out to each TV.
Then we just took some cardboard & covered half the TV on each, and started playing some HALO 2!! It kicked major ass, cause there was no screen peeking!
It's funny that no consoles have that option available. You think they would put more then one outputs in the back to hook up more TVs for shooter type games. I've wrote Nintendo a few times to do this, instead of the usual two or more Consoles, why not just one!
So yeah this does work! Go down to Radio Shack or Circuit City or whatever they wanna call themselves, and just look for something that'll hook the A/V Cord into and split it.

I guess that works too, but what I was talking about was getting a splitter that not just doubles the outputs and gives the same signal, but physically draws and quarters the signal as well, so that 4 televisions/monitors will each get a corner of the original screen, allowing for split-screen play without a problem.

With that box i said, u can split to multiple singnals, and it cames no loss in picture corners because you can adjust easily screen size at tv pots...

Oh another way we did it, was we have one of them A/V boxes for old TVs that don't have the 3 Output jacks and just a basic cable hook up. So from the Game Cube to the A/V to Cable Converter box, we then took the basic cable connected it to a splitter & wired it to multi TVs. Works awesome!

When me and my brother tryed this with the Xbox and Gamecube through a computer TFT screen we got a 10 second delay, so when you done something on the controller it would happen 10 seconds later it sucked.
If someone could edit Gamecube games you could add LAN mode to games and play them over a LAN network but I can't do it can anyone else?
Games like MKDD can be played online of over LAN.

I'm using multiple monitors with no lag. And as for adding LAN mode, it probably isn't going to happen. The only games that I could see working were ones that originally had LAN mode planned, but had it removed at the last minute, like F-Zero GX. Though it isn't exactly what you're looking for, an interesting project to look at is WarpPipe.

me and my brother have a way to comabat this problem, but this will just work with games like soul calibre and mortal combat. we got a foxtall splitter we never use and can beam images ova the whole house and shit so we just use that from room to room ( as were just 1 room apart) and have a wave bird so were not evn in the same room and still fighting. but i guess for the 4 player games u could just cover the other squares or half screen and play like that, hmm ive got to try that and just buy 3 more receivers and that will be able to do 4 players on seprate TVs
