I had the exact same problem, here's what I did. I had to take the system apart, just unscrew and be careful. I couldn't do this leaving the warranty sticker so I removed it, oh well! Life goes on. Next you need to unscrew the metal peice from underneath the lid where tool c goes, that's easy. Now you have a metal piece that needs to be bent into submission, just work it back and forth until you can bend it competely back and press it flat(make sure you bend the right piece of the metal, you'll know it if you look). Bend the piece backwards until it's almost completely flat. Now combine tool c and the original metal and screw in, this will work just be patient and careful. Piece.

so just unscrew the metal part off of the black cover piece and bend the metal back which covers the normal hole where tool c would go and then put ps2 back together and just insert the tool c like I normaly would?? I don't need tool d?

DUDE, NO!!!!! What did you do, all you had to do was what I said which I believe had nothing to do with the power button. I've taken mine apart a couple of time and never touched anything but what I specified. I have no idea about how to fix that. Try searching the forums, thant sucks. Sorry?

its no prob I'm not really gonna sweat it my dad fixes stuff I mean he works on tvs and electronics I still have the little switch so he might be able to solder it or reconnect it somehow. I found that when I was pull the top part off of the slim ps2 that it got hung up on the switch and I tried to open it as gentle as possible but ultimately it broke off. I alos tried to bend that part and it work intermintently, but I think I need tool d because tool c would keep contact

ok well my dad managed to repair the power switch. now I'm just gonna wait till tool d comes. I should still be able to use it even though I bent that metal piece back right?? tool c did not work right because I couldn't bend it all the way so its sticking up preventing tool c from going all the way in.. or should I bend it alll the way till its flat against the other side??
thanx

I would bend it all the way, that's what I did. If you try something else you'll have to do it your way. So good luck!

what do you mean bend all the way? I bent it so its sticking straight up if I bend it to the right of the hole I have trouble putting it back on. can't I just take the metal piece off all together?
thanx
this is cool troubleshooting with you

I tried taking it off by cutting, but didn't have anything strong enough so I just bent it backwards and it works perfectly. If you have strong scissors go for it. I bent it with some standard pliers. Good luck!
