I have backing up my personal DVDs for approximately one year using MTR, DVDoneX, and Toast. Recently my backup DVDs wil play on the computer, but not my stand alone DVD player. My media has not changed. The only change I can recall making is the upgrade to Toast 7 from Toast 6.
My Sony player gives an error message (C: 17 30 dirty disc). I know it isn't a matter of the disc being dirty.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

The only thing I recall changing is to Toast 7 (now upgraded to 7.0.1). Prior to this time I have made backups of approximately 150 movies without a hitch. I ahve used either MTR or DVD Backup, DVD2OneX, and Toast. I've know tried 3 different DVD-R (Prodisc, TDK, & Taiyo Yuden). I even replaced thr DVD in my PowerMac G5. The backed up disks will not play in the Mac or in my Sony DVD player. The player jeeps giving the error message of a scratched or dirty disks.
Any suggestion are greatly appreciated.

like i asked before... is this on all dvds you do or is it just this one? you may have a badly pressed disc.

you've done that many before.. so i dont see what is going wrong.

All three of the DVD-R brands above have had similar results. I've also tried to slow the burn speed to 4x or 2x in the Mac superdrive while using Toast.

thelox 714,
I appreciate your input. The next step that I'm considering is to delete Toast 7 and reinstall version 6 to see if I have similar results.

Have you tried making a backup with Toast 7 with successful results yet?
