Obviosuly God of War (PS2) needs to be put on one of these. I was wondering, is there such thing as a DVD-R Dual Laeyer? Or is it just DVD+R Dual Layer? I just need ONE, not 50. Where is the best place (wether its supermediastore.com or bestbuy) to get this media? Also, which brand should I take? I use Tayo Yuden (Dont know how to spell it) and they are FANTASTIC and so much better than memorex BUT I dont think they make DL (Dual Layers).

Dual layer media is only available in +R format at the present time, it will be coming out in -R later this year. If you are looking to buy dual layer retail try CompUSA they may sell them singly, but otherwise Best Buy, WalMart, Staples all have dual layer in 3 packs of Verbatim one of the best dual layer media. You can also go online to http://www.supermediastore.com and buy Ritek/Ridata dual layer as single disks. Other places to try

So the -R is finally out, little pricey though. I think I will stick with the +R they are getting cheaper.

@catfreak

I got to agree on the booktyping. I was unable to booktype before I got my Plextor and used nothing but -R because of older standalones, but now I use the +R which are much better disk, and I believe produce much better quality.

i have had the best success with DL media when i booktype them too~(courtesy of Mort81 initially-the whole booktyping thing and then Arniebear when i first tried my very 1st DL disc-thank you both, the credit goes to both you guys for my success) :)

that is the way to go, booktype the DVD+R DLs and use decrypter iso-read---->iso write, flawless on Verbatim DL media (this is the only type i have tried thus far and i am happy with them).

p.s. "mr. affiliate-meritline" you have been reported...on MORE than one occassion..i even suggested to you to quit doing that BEFORE a mod. sees it and bans you, just looking out for you man...

 First of all, Verbatim is the BEST DL media currently available .. no ifs ands or buts

 Here is a short but concise description of booktyping:
   The Book Type is a field of four bits at the start of every DVD (in the physical format information section of the control data block) that indicates what the physical format of the disc is. Many devices will use this "Book Type Field" to determine how the disc should be treated.
   One common cause of compatibility problems is when a device does not recognize the Book Type of the disc that has been loaded, most likely as a result of the device being manufactured before that particular Book Type was been defined (e.g., most DVD playback devices made before mid-2004 will not recognize the relatively new DVD+R DL Book Type). For DVD+R, DVD+RW, and DVD+R DL discs, it is possible to change the Book Type field value to the value for DVD-ROM in order to fool older devices that do not recognize newer Book Type Field values (this process is known as bitsetting).

So then that means my slim black ps2 model 70012 bought from this year (june 2005) will work burning god of war on a verbatim dvd+dl (or I should say DVD+R dual layer)
