Socket controller not working

My ps2 has gone dodgy. When the controller is plugged,in socket 1, the menus of the game start to scroll themselves up and down, pressing buttons, without me touching anything. If i unplug the controller that stops happening. I plug it back again, the same story, everything goes mad. Its like all the buttons are pressed at the same time. Therefore i cant play anything. It doesnt response when i press anybutton. Any ideas?

Maybe yor controller is busted. If it isn't try putting it in the second contoller slot. If that doesn't work buy a new contrller. Maybe yor PS2 is broken.

I ve got 2 controllers and with both of them do the same. If its broken there must be a reason.
