I recently asked my friend to help me mod my PS2 with a Magic 3.1+. It's a version 4 GAP PS2, and it's kind of old. Anyway, my friend installed the chip successfully and got it to play backups (there was an issue with video before but he fixed it). After about 5 hours of working fine, the machine just shut down. No lights on the machine, nothing. According to him, he checked the motherboard, bios, bridged connections, said everything was fine.
Does anyone know what's going on? Is my PS2 finally dead or is there a way to fix it? Please help!
Actually I just talked to him again, I think I got the details mixed up. What he said was this:
The power, reset light, and fan comes on. However, the disc tray will not open, and apparently the PS2 refuses to display video. He checked for bridges and damaged cables, said everything is working. Anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?
I don't know if he messed up the graphic synthesizer, he had the problem before and he managed to fix it. I think the issue has more to do with some other factor... Anyone have any ideas?
Ok, it's been a while, but I talked to him and he says the chip probably wiped the bios. Does that mean I have to replace the motherboard, or is there a way to fix it? What's the best fix?
