Daytek PVR-P30 anyone done a hack firmware upgrade on it?

i bought a Daytek P30 recorder at canada computers recently. machine is great, but then i saw that if you hack Lite-On firware and upgrade the firmware on this machine, you an added 3-hour LP recording mode and an option to turn off Macrovision. Tried everything posted at dvdrhelp.com but it seems as if the newer daytek's don't upgrade... has anyone recently purchased a daytek and upgraded?
