I have a Sony DW-D22A and am having problems finding a media that will drop down to 1x speed when burning. I was wondering if anyone else out there knows of some DVD-R that are definitely compatible at 1x with this drive. I've already tried buying a couple different brands with no luck and upgraded my firmware in an attempt to fix this as well.
Thanks for any help.

I may have to get a new one. I just bought it 6 months ago, so maybe I'll wait a bit. Getting some Taiyo Yuden's in tomorrow, so maybe I'll strike gold with these. Should of got them a long time ago anyways.

I've got 2 benq 1620s. DVD Decrypter and Nero express will only allow me 4x for the slowest. Dvd shrink/burning with Nero will allow me 2.4x burn speed.
Why so slow of burn?

Why would you need to find 1x media for your Sony? This is a pretty new drive capable of writing 16x+R, 8x-R, 4x+RW, 4x-RW and 2.4xDL .. In other words, just about anything you want to stuff into it

Problems with some PS2 games, and would like to slow down as much as possible. As I said, I'm getting some new Taiyo Yudens so maybe I'll be alright with those even at 4x.

Sony makes discs that have 1-8x printed on the hub .. I'd say perfect for a Sony writer and PS2

Those ty's will definitely help on your ps2 backups.
Those sony 1x-8x are also very good.A heck of a lot better than their 1x-4x and 4x speed media.

Have two packs of the Sony 1x-8x. Bought the second thinking the first one didn't say 1x. They will only drop down to 4x. I've been using DVD Decryptor and Nero mostly. Pretty weird huh? I would think Sony media would be quite compatible with a Sony drive.

Thanks for that website. Some very valuable information there. Seems even though it's a "Sony", Sony refuses to have anything to do with it since it's OEM. Maybe I will just have to get a new drive once I get back to work off medical leave. We'll see how these new discs go too.
Thanks for all the help!

Well, no good on the TYs burning lower than 4x either. But, the good news is these discs are so good I'm having absolutely no problems. I'm wondering if the burning programs just aren't completely compatible with the drive, not letting it drop, but no problems now!
