This is my first post, so Hello to all those helpful people who've chosen to read this, and thanks for the immediate support.
If I'm talking about something that's been done before by all means let me know, but links to the pages would be nice.

I've managed to get a single ISO file using DVD Decrypter of my game I checked it with Isobuster and there are no dummy files to mess with so I thought it would be a simple process and tried to burn it to DVD-R using Nero and the settings I'd found off the net, but when I used my Swap Magic 3.6 + Magic Switch 2.0 (slimline PS2) the Swap Magic screen said my disc wasn't a valid PS2 disc so therefore I'm guessing I burned a coaster.

And yes I did use the DVD boot disc.

So I'm guessing that the burn settings were just wrong. So can anyone tell me what settings to use to get a working backup. I have a few games that I'll be playing a LOT more than the others so a method that works more than once would be good.
Do some games need different methods to extract/burn them?
Is there any way to check that the burn has worked before trying it in the console? Like checking the files present when the disc is still in the PC?

I hope I haven't annoyed anyone by being so thick but I think I've come to a good place for advice.
So gimme what you got and make it good!

When we have learnt all there is to learn, what'll we do on Saturdays?

MOST games require no rebuilding or patches. You just read then burn with dvd decrytper.

What game is it?

When you opened your ps2 to put in the backup, did the screen say something about refreshing the toc? If it did, the ps2 knows you opened it and the magic switch is not installed correctly.

V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

It's Tekken 5 and it mentioned the TOC needs to be larger but it didn't say it needed to be refreshed.

I looked at info about installing the magic switch properly and I didn't find anything that was very precise/clear so I had to compile the info myself and I think I got it right. One site said that the flip top of the slimline wouldn't close when the magic switch was installed but mine does!? And I also read that if the switch wasn't installed properly that the laser/PS2 wouldn't start up any way. But mine seems to load the SM disc fine and the magic switch seems okay to me. I did read that the part that fits at the rear of the lid, near the hinge, needed wiggling so it fits and clicks into place on one side more than the other, I don't know whether this might be a problem but like I said the console boots up and so does the laser and it boots the Swap Magic dvd disc too. So any guesses?
I'm still muddled with the burning of the discs.
