Sony PS2 Hard Drive Not Recognized

I have an official Sony Hard drive with FFXI installed and I've been using it with no problems. I removed the hard drive and install another one and then two days later when I re-connected the first hard drive back, it did not show up on the PS2 browser.
However, both the HDD Utility Disk and HDAdvance recognize the drive as being there.

What could be the problem?

have you tried putting the utility disk in with that drivers and stuff that sony should have supplied it may need them installed again

thanks for your response.

I tried to just re-install the software but that didn't work.

I had to completely re-format the hard drive. But that means I lost everything, including that huge FF update that takes 4 hours to download even with broadband.

I still don't understand why it happened?

damn really sorry to hear that well it must have corrupted a partition table or somethiing like that i dunno and no problem for the help thats what this lovely little commnity is here for!
