Yeah I just got a flip top too Naruto, and at first it was a little tricky. First off I assume you are using Swap Magic or some other boot disc. Put in your boot disk, then turn on your PS2. Follow the screen prompts for whichever boot disk you are using, put in your backup and hit x. This should solve the problem. If you posted some more specific info it would help. What version PS2 do you have, what game are you trying to boot, what type of boot disk (SMD, Breaker Pro, etc.) are you using? Usually something like this is a procedural problem, not a technical one. Assuming you didn't destroy your PS2 while installing the flip top (I'm sure you didn't), either you aren't following the steps correctly or your backup isn't burned properly. Post a little more info and I might be able to help you.

Hmm naruto the slimline PS2 is not my area of expertise, but I will do my best. Occasionally when I use my boot disc and replace it with my back up, the CD won't spin and will make a clicking sound. The cause of this is almost always because the CD isn't level. When the CD isn't level it's impossible for the PS2 laser to read the disc. Push down lightly in the back and make sure your CD is level. Here is a step by step guide: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/swapmagic/page1.cfm
If you still can't get your backup to play, then your disc probably isn't burned correctly. For instructions on burning PS2 backups check here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/117975 It is a little bit of reading, but if you want this done right, it takes time and patience. Most of my knowldege is about playing PSX games on a PS2 with a modchip CD. Burning and playing PS2 games is a bit out of my area of expertise. So take a break from the porn and do a little research, you can do it!

This is just a hypothesis, but I believe your lid is probably not fastened tight enough! This is why you need to keep pushing down on the cover to make it work.

The way the lid works is by pushing down on the two sensor tabs which tell the PStwo whether the lid is open or not. These tabs will be under the lower right and upper left corners of your lid. Now if any of these two tabs are not pressed down fully, your PStwo hardware tells the system that your lid is still open; this prevents you from swapping in or starting anything. So I get a strong impression that your fliptop isn't secured tight enough such that it's always pressing fully down on the tabs.

In a worse case scenario where you're still unable to secure the lid properly, just keep pressing down on the lower right and upper left corners of you lid whenever you boot the Swap Magic disc in question, as well as when you load a game. You'd still need something pressing down on those corners while playing the game, too, since a PS2 will stop playing anything if its tray or lid is open. But for a longer-term solution I'd just recommend securing the fliptop more tightly.
