OK heres the situation. I have an xbox that I got from a friend. He lost the hard drive so I put an xbox drive that I had in it from a parts xbox. Now the question is with out that original hdd. Is there a way to fix it so the xbox will boot up with out mod chipping it? I do have an xbox that is modded with executer2 chip.

Any help is greatly apreciated.

In short if your XBOX? HDD regardless the source (save the XBOX? it came in!),. Is different to that which you plan to plant it into. IT MUST FIRST BE UNLOCKED!! If not all you'll see is a big fat 'Error 06': The HDD can not be Unlocked! With out the 'Unlock Key' The HDD in question is about as usefull as a Bricked One. And there's no Modchip in the World (as of this Moment), that's going to change that!!!

Ok as I said before I have a modded xbox and slayers even that wont unlock the hd?

I don't really remember I think Slayers should already have ConfigMagic on it though. EvoX could have a function to do it. But, I have always trusted Team Assembly's Program to edit my EEPROM Settings and Lock & Unlock HDD Settings. Becaus it just WORKS!

Again you CAN NOT! just dump any old HDD you want in your XBOX?! It does not work that way. Especaly if your talking about a HDD that came out of another XBOX?. Every XBOX? HDD is Factory locked! One of the very first things to happen upon you pressing the Power Switch is to send the HDD the Unlock Key as determand by the EEPROM's embedded list of Five individual 'Sub Keys'. These Key are unique for each XBOX.

So if you were to try this, I'd be willing to bet that you're going to be stareing at an 'Error 06' Screen before you can actualy use it. Now if you actually know the real 20-bit Unlock Key. You can try to unlock it over the PC! If not, then enjoy your HDD shaped Paprerweight. As without this Info there will be no way for you to ever use it. Because the Key must match with the one on the HDD when it was origionaly locked and not the one that EovX, Slayers or ConfigMagic (Which is in itself quite valid! if only on your XBOX?!), tells what it thinks it should be...

Unfortunaly your going to have to shell out for a bigger HDD. Which in the end will Pay for itself in the longrun...
