comcast DVR recording some programs in chunks

I've had the comcast DVR for a couple of weeks now, and it's been nice, but just this week it's started doing something strange. It's recording some of my programs in chunks. for instance, it will record 1 minute, then record 15 minutes, then record the last 44 minutes. It seems to be pretty random as to which programs it does this with. has anybody else had this problem?
