This is from the Glossary Section from the main AfterDawn Site.

DVD-RAM

One of the competing recordable DVD standards. Not compliant with regular stand-alone DVD-Video players and not compliant with any DVD-ROM drives either. Normally used as a slow harddrive replacement. Standard is going to die pretty soon as more compatible standards, such as DVD-R and DVD+RW, are getting more popular.

To tell you the truth, based on the above information, I would not get it. I got a Pioneer (Cendyne) A105 DVD-R(W) for $169.00 ($219.00 with at $50 rebate) at Office Max a month ago and have not had any problems at all with the drive, compatability, or anything else.

And again based on the above info, DVD-Ram is on its way out. Sorry...
