PS2 Tray Problem

I recently ran into a problem with my ps2. I've got a v7 ps2 with a flip-top case.

Anyways, the problem came up suddenly for no reason at all. I turned on the ps2 and ejected the tray with the eject button. After taking the cd out, I closed the tray with the eject button and I saw that the tray would not close all the way. I looked at it through the flip-top hole and saw that the part of the ps2 with the laser and motor came up (early?) and the cd spinner blocked the inside of the cd tray from going all the way in.

I saw the white piece of plastic under the tray that has the tracks that cause the laser and motor section to lift up and I thought that the timing might've just been off for some reason. I tried to force the white plastic piece towards the right of the ps2 so that it wouldn't come up as early, and ended up getting it stuck to the side. I tried to push it back but it wouldn't move with lots of force. Now the tray can go all the way in and out, but the motor/laser doesn't raise or anything.

I don't have a small bit set or anything to unscrew the small screws, so I can't really try anything yet. If anyone knows what the problem is or any possible way to fix it, please reply! Thanks in advance.
