i am pissed off royaly! i usually order only from allmedia..but they were out of the ritek media a couple of weeks ago, so i ordered 500 ritek ridata printable blanks from meritline, just to find out that the first 10 i tried to burn were not accecpted by my sony dru 500a. just to make sure that it wasn't the burner i had some blank dvd/rw's and they burned perfectly and i also had some maxell dvd-r's and they also burned perfect. so after returning the blanks. i then ordered from shop4tech, the same brand of dvd's and guess what? these ones wouldn't burn at all. i even did a firmware check and i have the latest firmware for the sony dru500a 2.1a. whats going on? can anyone help me with this?

@jrock hi :)
Ridata are Ritek's own branded media and if the disc's you have are - 8x they should ID out as RITEKG05.
i am assuming that because you are a junior member that you have a fair bit of experience so lets have a little more info
a complete ID by DVDidentifier (or similar) of your media
burn speed (in my case never faster than 4x)
method of burning (again in my case Shrink... re author...movie only..DVDdecrypter...to encode and burn.)

i'm in the UK though all i ever read about shop4tech (frequently) is that they're scam merchants...

shop4tech sux balls~ :) i received FAKE TYs from them a few years ago~, NEVER buy from them again~

i know for a fact that BOTH supermediastore and meritline are AUTHORIZED Ritek distributors/resellers~ so, it depends on if you got a "Bad batch" or not, they WILL and DO take back/refund you if you are not pleased with their Ritek media~

i rarely buy from meritline anymore, as supermediastore has treated me much better in the past; so i stick with what works FOR ME, never tried allmedia as you have, so, i can't say anything else about them other than the fact that i NEVER got my sample Burnmasters that i ordered from them, so $10 down the drain for me there. :)

need a little more info as to where the ACTUAL problems lie, you stated the first 10 you tried were "not accepted"? what does that mean exactly? the drive didn't even recognize them at all? and you say you have the latest firmware for the dru500a...that DOES seem kind of odd~

need to know EXACTLY where/what the error is...

o.k. let me try and clearify this problem for you all. i have burned maybe about 500 movies thus far. i have never had this problem before. i use dvd shrink or dvd decrypter but me personaly i like dvd shrink just my prefference. then i burn with nero. like i said never had a problem at all. it has to be the media because i have followed the same routine as usual. the thing that i don't understand is that my burner won't even recognize this media, it will reject the media and ask for me to put in some blank media. but if i take out the blank dvd and put in one of my dvd/rw's wether its a verbatim or a ritek that was brought from allmedia, it will accept it and then burn the movie just fine. i have run tests on the sony drive and everything checked out just fine. so i am left to believe that its the media. well allmedia just got some more back in stock so i just ordered 50 of thier ridatas, and if i get a good burn from these one then i am going to order a 1000 of them. i will have to wait and see what happens with these ones, they should be here saturday. i had them 2 day express them to me. i hope that i have been a bit more clearer.

jrock hi :)
could still do an ID check just to make sure their what they are supposed to be
as i've said Ridata are Ritek and should only ID as Ritek
there have been some rogue disc's about under the Ritek name of late

You can use this free proggy. http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ BTW if they are DVD+R media they could ID as ritek R03 or ricohjpn both of which are good. Personally I've had better results with the branded ritek ridata DVD+R media than the DVD-R media.
