hi guys i got a v9 ps2 which boots swap magic perfectlly the p[roblem is my friend's slim ps2 wont boot it. Both mine and his version boots on mine and the cd loader boots on his ps2 but the dvd doesnt. I thought maybe it could be the laser is weak but it boots his non-backup ps2 dvd games perfectly. Anyone can suggest something? Otherwise he paid 20 bucks for nothing

Basically, yeah. Even if his swapping "solution" doesn't work, the Swap Magic discs should still boot in some fashion. To be honest, I blame Swap Magic for making crappy presses of their discs. Some part of this is intentional, I believe, because they don't want people easily copying their stuff (why, I don't know), but it makes it far more difficult for paying customers to read those discs on their PS2s than it ought to.
What does he use to boot the Swap Magics on his slim? And what happenns? Does it just go straight to the browser and memory card screen?

the cd version boots perfectly the dvd displays the ps2 symbol but then goes back to browser ; ;

Is the disc scratched or anything,or maybe you need to clean the disc, are other dvds working???

all dvd games work perfectly odd shit is my dvd loader and his both load perfectly on my version 9 ps2 but neither will load on his

IM thinking its the lens beacause dvds wont work on his either so try to clean his laser or something like that and try a cd

If you need to open your PS2 and clean it, be very careful. I personally open it up and clean it with a Q tip and CD cleaning solution (basically rubbing alcohol, slighly diluted). I have done this 4 or 5 times and can now do it blind folded and drunk. Be forewarned, The first time I did this I almost destroyed my eject cable (a silver ribbon looking deal running from the DVD housing to the eject button) and destroyed my PS2. However after carefully looking at some schematics I caught myself before I made that fatal mistake. As long as your are semi coordinated and very careful taking the PS2 apart is the best way to clean it. For a FAQ about doing so check here: http://www.answerbag.com/c_view.php/2126#q_9535
I personally would avoid the lens cleaner kit (the CD with a rug attached) because I have read in several forums that it can scratch your lens, making the situation worse. If you do decide to open your PS2 use extreme caution. I noticed a significant increase in performance in my PS2 after each cleaning.
