Hey, thanks for checking out this post...I've been backing up games successfully for a few years now, but I'm new to the whole rebuilding thing...(So far I've only tried to rebuild one game - The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction - which worked perfectly)...Here is my question:

Is there some simple way to tell right off the bat whether a game will need to be rebuilt?...In my experience, I've always had to check forums online first (like the very informative ones here at afterdawn), to find out whether other people have had to rebuild a particular game...

I mean, is it just trial and error?...Does the first guy just try to back a game up regularly (like with DVD Decryptor) and upon discovering that it doesn't work, concludes that the game needs to be rebuilt?...Any more information on this subject would be greatly appreciated...

P.S. - I mentioned above that I was able to successfully back up Ultimate Destruction (with the helpful instructions from this site), but since that's the only experience I've had with it, I'm not sure whether there are other methods that are preferred (or even required) for other games that need to be rebuilt...Could somebody please explain this as well?
Thanks
Joey

I had problems with basically just EA games. I followed a guide on these foums and now i follow that for making all of my PS2 backups, the way I look at it is if it works then why not do it that way? I dont do all the cdvdgen thing i open the iso with isobuster and burn the game with nero and havent had a problem yet(knock on wood).....after not rebuilding cost me about 15 Verbatim dvds.

this is the basic rule you must follow

first, look at the size of the iso....is it over 4.37 gb ish???
if it is and you use swapmagic disk's,then the chances are it will need rebuilding

the way to check whether the game CAN be rebuilt or not is to use ultraiso

open the image in ultraiso, and look at the top right hand side

the size of the image should be shown there
if this is considerably less then what it should be,then there are hidden files/dummy files in there, and it can be rebuilt

Very helpful...Thank you guys...I appreciate it...Two final thoughts though: 1) I Googled UltraIso, and can't seem to find a recent one that's FREE...Any suggestions/links?...

And

2)Do we know whether anyone's been able to successfully backup any of the new games that just came out?...Has anyone confirmed: Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Ultimate Spiderman, X-men Legends II, & Marvel Nemesis?...And if so, do any of them need to be rebuilt?...Thanks again.

I have ripped it with DVD Decrypter to an ISO file, but what do i need to do now?
From what i can gather i have to open ISO Buster and extract the files to a folder, but thats all i know
Thanks in advance 4 any help
