If anybody out there has successfully removed the black circle on top of a gamecube and replaced it with a clear "window" can they please tell me the easiest and safest ways to do so?

also if anybody has replaced the fans inside a 'cube with LED fans or just straight up added LEDs to the ventilation slots could you give me some instructions about doin that

Just separate the plate sides with somekind of knife and take gc logo off. that easy.

if you take the black plastic off the top of the case then there is no perfect view inside, there are only 3 small holes, you would have to do alot of custom work with a dremel tool. as for the fan, all you need to do is drill a small hole and place an led there and use a hot glue gun or krazy glue to stick it there.
depending on the color of the led and the voltage you need to use a resistor otherwise the 12 volt power from the power supply will fry the led

Its not necessary to use dremel kind of tool... original carpet knife is just good. You see, plate is inlaid, so it already has kind of trail that you can cut along with carpet knife.

oh I get it, he wants to split it, I understood it as he wanted to clear it and have a window into the GC, in that case he'd have to cut the plastic to the top case

well if you take the little plastic window off you'll notice that there is alot of plastic under it that holds it in place, you would have to remove most of that plastic to get a window inside, it's nto alot of work but you would want a dremel tool for the job

A Dremel would be good to smooth out the edges though. A lot faster than sandpaper, but easier to make mistakes.
I guess it really just comes down to how much you trust your abilities.
