Creaky I do not have a log yet, but ran into another problem just last evening on my pc, that is all goes well til the burn time disc ejects with a laundry list "burn failure" error message first time ever on this computer, this error pops up almost immediately at start of burn. Just want to check to see if DMA has been disabled I assume it should be enabled at all times?!?!?!?!?!?!?

andreasBW,

Did you follow the steps that dougal58 explained above?

If you have already done that, and your DMA mode still will not change (this happed to me on my old computer) ...

1st, go back into Device manager and uninstall the drive and turn the computer off.

When you turn it back on it will re-install itself.

THEN go through the steps mentioned above AGAIN

Right click my computer
select properties
select hardware tab
select device manager
double click IDE/ATAPI CONTROLLERS ...

When you get to IDE controllers ...

Go to ADVANCED SETTINGS - change to DMA IF NECESSARY and this time - the change should stay!
