Using DVD Decrypter, I ripped a movie from its disc. When I went to burn it onto a blank DVD (using the same program), it warned that the image size is has more sectors than the destination disc. What happened
BTW: i have no idea what sectors are
i should also mention that the properties of the dvd says that there is 4.19 GB of space, but the disc says 4.7 GB on its packaging

hi there
not sure if this will help but ive tried these setting given to me by a fellow site user and DVD Decrypter works fine every time now ...
Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove IFO/BUP PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO, Read Mode", "tick" "Remove IFO/BUP PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says, "Ignore read errors". This is an excellent setting for dealing with lightly scratched discs which may cause ripping problems.
many thanks shaun

As a GENERAL rule, after you rip the movie with decrypter, you should use 'DVDSHRINK' to fit the large files (which decrpypter creates) onto the target DVD disc.
Of course if your target disc is the new (and pricey) double layer type, then you will have no need to 'shrink' it.

@ erommel welcome to ad the sectors warning is just telling you that the disk (blank media)does not have enough space to store your movie.
this is quite often cured w/ the use of DVD Shrink as attar stated this is quite a powerful(and free) combo of prog's.
shrink is not the only or best imo prog but is quality none the less and the ease of use and speed makes up for it's short coming's

also I would leave the settings in decrypter alone for now as you said you were able to rip the movie already!
the ignore read errors thing is not a good thing at all this will allow you to rip faulty files and if you can burn them they will have poor playback at best this is a last resort measure. but remember if you ever have to change the defaults they will stay that way til you change them back!!!

here are the numbers: about 3.9 million for the file and about 2.2 million for the blank dvd
