I am new to video editing and am using Vegas Video 3. I am trying to edit both mpeg and avi files that I have downloaded. When I apply a Video FX, the entire movie is affected.I can see that the movie is joined and the only place that a FX marker appears is at the end of the movie. Is it because the files were previously renedered and therefore there are no longer single events to work with. Like I said, I am new to this. What do I need to do? What type of files will allow me to edit single events in an entire movie and where can I find them? I want to experiment before investing in a camcorder. So far, I have only had luck with still images of jpegs. Can I do anything to separate the clips or am I totally off base?
I have searched everywhere for some answers and guidelines.
Thanks
Alabina
