Play DVD9 Backup w/o modchip,but use ext hd or usb drive

I am very new to this since i havent been able to have the fun of doing alot of this kind of stuff. I copied god of war (yes, THAT game) and I know I havent gotten to read everything on it possibly, but is it possible to play a God of War backup thathas been burned the same way as a dvd5 backup using an external hard drive or usb jumpdrive?

not sure, but i doubt it.
The last i heard only a mod chip can play a DVD9
back up. I am sure people who had hard drives would have
tried that way back when it came out and no one could find
a way to back it up. Everyone i know had to rip it to DVD5
or if you own it, just get on the net and get it already
ripped down for you.

Dang, thanks for the help anyways. I'll look into modchips later on and see which is right for me. my ps2 is v4 (i think thats a good thing anyways)

DMS4 Pro or Matrix Infinity
Also i think the DMS4 EZI solderless will work
with a V4, but you will have to check into that.
It is the easy way to go if you can't solder REALLY good.
