Hi, i've been using DVDDecrypter for a while now and i haven't run into any problems but today i was trying to burn The Ring Two and got an error message during the burning part, (i've already ripped it and shrunk it, and those parts were fine). The error message i received said:
DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed!
Device [1:0:0] BENQ DVD DD DW1620 B7L9 (D:) ATA
Unable to lock volume for exclusive access.
Reason: access denied.
And the log said :
E 21:58:09 Failed to lock volume for exclusive access.
E 21:58:09 Operation Aborted! - Duration: 00:02:02
Can anyone tell me what's wrong and offer some help?
Thanks.

I second that. If there's a solution available, please post it here -- do not link to external sites. Even if it means typing the answer again.

jmet,
for those who have been here awhile they will usually add a specific thread to their favorites so they can access it faster (or go through their subscribed threads).
We don't sticky every problem solved thread ... there would just be too many stickies. But as I said ... I add certain threads to my aD favorites so I can locate them faster.
I'm sure almost every problem has been discussed it just a matter of finding the thread with the solution or just posting the solution again :)

Since you use the word "we" (assuming you meant the AD forums in general). I would first like to state, I am not trying to compare forums and/or implement how "we" use are method of solving threads at the dd forums. (I am defiantly not trying to "steal" your members either! I seem to be getting accused of that alot here lately.)

That is why the "FAQ" was created at the dd forums, so that members could actually help them selves if they wanted to or us the helpers could have a quick way of gathering the solution instead of searching hours or having a hundred bookmarks in their favorites.

"We" don't either. The "FAQ" I link to are not "old" problem threads. They are threads that were created for linking to, so that you can help the member faster instead of having to search for the solution in some distant thread.
Edit: Yes, I realize that you are a moderator. I did not know you were a moderator when you PM'ed me the first time, as your title did not show in the PM. I did not see you were a moderator until after you had banned me. I was not trying to be "defiant" in your authority.

@lil_tee,
Feel free to start another thread :)
@jmet,
Yes I was referring to aD when I said "we", but mainly us mods and admins. We are the only ones able to sticky a thread.
And yes I did take a look at the FAQ at dd, and I did notice there are only 8 threads in the FAQ.

The regulars know where to look and we do have our a guides link. But you must also know that some people no matter how many threads we link them to want help in the thread they've created.
I hear what your saying. When I first joined aD I learned how to do things for myself from a couple of the guides and a sticky thread.

@ lil_tee - I sincerely apologize for "Hi-Jacking" your thread.

If I can count correctly, there are 167 links in are FAQ: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45339

I understand that and agree %100. The thing is, I get reprimanded for posting a link before the user even comes back to say he did or didn't solve his problem. If he or she comes back I assist them further. What is the difference if you link to a guide here and they come back for further help and if I link to a guide there (ad dd) and they come back for further help? I understand this is how you (and many other moderators, admins, addicts, etc.) do things. But, isn't the overall goal of both the dd forums and the ad forums to help the member in need?
On a side note, I have seen a multitude of threads were Addicts, Senior Members, and Members have linked to the dd forum, yet they were not punished in any way?
One of my main goals is to help people understand that "they" can help them selves and everything cannot be handed to you on a "silver platter".

I was refering to this: http://forum.digital-digest.com/forumdisplay.php?f=57
And your missing my point. Members create a thread here. We help them here ... IMO I see no need to send them somewhere else. Plain and simple.
Glad you gained your knowledge from dd ... but if you want to help members here on aD all we ask is you post the solution here, and not link somewhere else.
And for the other seniors and addicts .... hard to say. All I can tell you is I've searched alot of your posts and you just seem to refer them to dd. Stop referring them and post the solution ... Is that too much to ask?

jmet,
and the open forums is not the place to discuss this. This thread will be hidden in the next few minutes.
If you still want to discuss this feel free to send me a PM.

i wonder why?
do you have anything to hide?
this is really becoming ridiculous
there is no such thing as a decent search engine let alone some structure or mods taking care of some postings and thus providing a decent overview
how many detailed guides did you create, flip?
do you know how much work it is?
with this forum's syntax one cannot simply copy the content of any guide on might have posted anywhere else - but instead one must do some heavy editing - i know what i'm talking about:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/226877 http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=54897
so why do you guys keep antagonizing other contributors when they try to help??
when will you stop accusing some ppl of trying to *steal users* - this is highly ridiculous

UncasMS,
Your one of the reasons why this should be hidden. It really has nothing to do with you.
And NO nothing to hide. But this is not the proper channel ... in the open forums.
Quote: how many detailed guides did you create, flip?
WTF does that have to do with it?
Quote: do you know how much work it is?
Dude I had over 7,000 post my first 6 months here. Believe me I've helped out my fair share.

I for one have not accused jmet of doing so.

Learn to read .... The point is if you want to help ... HELP THEM HERE
And do you see what you did? You created a guide here!!! you can link to that guide here!!!
