Having trouble backing up Good Morning, Vietnam? Shrink goes to 99 percent and just freezes up with copywrite protect, and about the same with Decrypter? Any suggestions? Thanks so much.......

@jmet:
Just curious, but why do you keep referring people to the digital digest forum? There are very knowledgeable people here at AD. I'm not one of them, but I am always learning.

This is my very first time with all of this jazz, and actually, the techniques that were described last night did not work. Sorry if I offended anyone, but I guess I have a lot to learn myself but I surely am trying.

You did not offend anyone if you are referring to tsquares message that was not directed at you. Did you rip that DVD with Decrypter and was Shrink able to open it. If not are you getting the same error? Have you tried any other program? You might try DVD Fab Decrypter available at http://www.filepedia.com under rippers this may rip it for you.

Thank You to ALL of YOU out there, I am just curious, if I downloaded Any DVD software, and it may have been this one that helped Decrypter finally get past that last file that has held me up for almost 2 days on my backup copy, but if I go past their 21 day trial, do you know if the working drivers will still work in conjunction with the rest of my programs or do I have to purchase the program? The reason I am asking is that I am really not 100 percent sure if this was the download that made it all work correctly or if I just hit some buttons along the way that actually did it - if you know what I mean - reaching for "straws" so as to say.......Thanks again...

AnyDVD will only work for the trial period and then you must buy the progam. AnyDVD will break encryption on your DVD and is an excellent program and well worth the money especially if you are going to do a lot of backups. There is newer encrypted movies that DVD Shrink cannot handle and AnyDVD will break these new movies. Example is the new Lords of Dogtown, AnyDVD has gotten their update out and encryption can be broken before the movie is released tomorrow. Also, you can try the free DVDFab Decrypter this will break the new encryption and then you just open your file with Shrink.

If you are thinking about purchasing then take a look at the companion piece which is CloneDVD it works like Shrink in that it compresses, but it also burns. All you have to do is open AnyDVD then Clone, choose your file and it will do it all. It also has great re-authoring capabilities, you can split a disk and keep a functional menu which is good for TV series. It also has a 21 day free trial, and if you like it you can purchase it for 20.00 in conjunction with AnyDVD. It was one of my best purchases and I use it all the time. Don't mean to push you, just offering my and others opinion on these programs :)

@Walta:
My post wasn't directed at you and I apologize if it came across that way. I noticed that jmet had referred a couple of people to the other site (and it is a pretty good site), but there are extremely knowledgable people here -- as arniebear just demonstrated. BTW, I tried AnyDVD & CloneDVD for the 21-day trial period and liked them so much that I bought them. Unfortunately, I bought them before the discount for AfterDawn was set up. I think I paid $59.00 for both.
I have only been burning for about 4 months and just about everything I have learned came from this site. I can't say enough about how helpful everyone was/is and believe me, I had a ton of questions and sometimes asked the same one twice! ScubaPete and bbMayo have put together a number of guides to help everyone. I printed them out and keep them in a notebook on my computer desk for reference. Welcome aboard.

Oh never any problem over here, I had been trying for almost 2 days straight (or inbetween everything else - if you know what I mean) and just kept getting the same everything over and over again, was not even coming close - and yes, I will probably get both programs myself, as I am a firm believer in backing priceless CD's (programs we have paid fortunes for) and DVD's as well, because you know as well as I do, any little scratch or accidental anything, can render a DVD with a "glitch" and basically no longer operating the way it should.......Thanks again!
