I've done a lot of burning with Decrypter and Shrink, and I'm having a problem I haven't come across before.

I decrypted a disk without problems, but I can't use Shrink at all. When I try to open the file I get an error message of:

"Invalid Data in file (one of the decrypted files)
Overlapped I/O operation is in progress"

If anyone knows a solution to get around this it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Failed to read file - Overlapped I/O operation in progress

Same basic error but the error code is reported differently depending on which version of DVD Shrink you currently are using.

The error normally appears at 50% of the encoding phase.

Error code in ver 2.3 in the initial analyze:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue this operation.
Invalid nv_pck: nv_vobu_ea
The reason is: Unknown

Error code in ver 3.0 beta 5 in the encoding phase:

Programming error ? exception occurred
The reason is: Unknown

Error code in ver 3.1 and up to ver 3.1.3 in the encoding phase:

DVD encountered an error and cannot continue
Programming error ? exception occurred
Referensen(handle) är felaktig (=translation from Swedish: The reference(handle) is wrong)

Error code in ver 3.1.4 beta 1 and above in the encoding phase:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Failed to read file "X:\"
Overlapped I/O operation is in progress

Problem:

Indicates that there is a problem with the disc.

What is the complete text of the error message?
It should read:

# DVD Shrink encountered an error [etc]
# xxx
# Overlapped I/O operation in progress

I'm interested in the xxx part. The last part is generated by the OS and may have nothing to do with the reason DVD Shrink stopped (possible that it just happened to be the last thing the OS was doing at the time of the error).

Nonetheless I think it strange, because overlapped I/O should not be possible under Windows98 - this is why it is grayed out in the DVD Shrink preferences. (It should be grayed out in unchecked state, not checked state. If this is not the case, try uninstalling DVD Shrink and then installing it again).

If the xxx part of the message says "Internal Error", then it just means DVD Shrink crashed, which is not very useful information.

You can enable or disable overlapped I/O in the DVD Shrink preferences (it doesn't make much difference on most systems).

The error message can be misleading: it is the last error code returned by the operating system, and often seems to come up whether DVD Shrink is doing overlapped I/O or not!
