please help
I started burning 6 or 7 months ago using dvd decypter and then dvd shrink then moved the video TS file to sonic recordnow to burn. I know record now isnt a good burning tool but it worked awsome for all that time and never failed.

Now I burn doing the same exact thing but it wont play on my stand alone but plays fine on computer.

Now my wife (jess) has burned a few things so i thought she messed with the settings on the decypter or shrink but I reset them and even went as far as too unistall them and reinstall. Same result.

I know she also played a dvd on the computer and I believe downloaded some viwer from the dvd.I heard somewhere that the movie companies put some viwer on them that then wont let you burn and play on a stand alone. I cant figure out what viewer it was nor does she remember. If anyone knows this please let me know.

Now I deleted sonic recordnow and have nero ver6. Same result.

I used DvD Fab. same result

Tried to burn woth DvD decrypter. Same result.

Tried having my IT guy from work come over and bribed W/ beer. Same result.

I have been using memorex RW and know this media sucks but have only had maybe 1 in 20 mess up. So I bought fugi film DVD's RW. Same result.

I even tried burning one of my old burned DVD's from 4 months ago that works fine on the stand alone. Same result.

All in all I dont know what the hell to do, I tried diferent burning software, diferent decypters and shrinks, diferent media, and diferent DVD's originals.

I'm lost please please please help

here are 2 suggestions..........
1. Get better media! Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony, Maxell, TDK! Plenty to choose from and they are soooooooooo much better than what you are using! Memorex is KNOW to be fine for a while and then go bad!!!!!!! Stay away from them!
2. Booktype/bitset your drive to DVD-ROMs check out this link: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136 for good ideas and check out #12 about booktype/bitsetting to make your disks more acceptable to ALL DVD PLAYERS! You can try DVDDecrypter to booktype your DVD+RW drive..... or you can also get DVDInfoPro! that program can also set your booktype to DVD-ROM so your disks are more acceptable!

but as far as it goes..... If you use better media, that's more than half the problem solved! good luck and report back when you tried these suggestions.

hi

dvd load interactual player

try uninstalling it

use dvd decrypter to burn via shrink (shrink uses the burn engine of DD)

but you can also output as iso from dvd shrink and then load to dvd decrypter separatly

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

I tried to set my burner to Booktype/bitset but I dont think my burner can do it. DvD decypter failed to do it under any of the manufacturers I tried. And Nero ver 6 doesnt seem to have the option for me where all the web sites say it should be, under options for the disc next to eject theres nothing.

this is what DVD Decrypter says im running

PHILIPS DVD8421 7H09 (ATA)
Current Profile: DVD+RW

Also dvd load interactual player doesnt seem to be in my list of programs to unistall so I'm assuming Its not on this machine.

I've tried to burn w/ decrypter from shrink like you said a few times both ways but same result, cant play on stand alone that ive play all the other dvds whish is a TON.

Now I do have another question. During the time between I burned my last sucessfull dvd and now InCd did update to a new version I believe and somewhere I read InCd screws up burning. Is this true and do i need to unistall that and what the heck is packet writing software anyway?

YES INCD can cause problems so unload the program .a couple other things that may help .make sure your system is clean as in a disc cleanup and a defrag often .

second..encode and burn your dvds offline with NO other programs running at all.(you can make sure of this by right clicking your bottom toolbar and click Task Manager)

third the media your using isnt very good as stated so try a different brand Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DVD dash Rs or DVD plus Rs your standalone may NOT like the DVD-RWs

try a different program ,my choice would be CloneDVD 2 with anydvd (which i use) and burn at 4X max. (VERY VERY IMPORTANT)

try this and let us know if its of value

Labels on your burnt DVDs will also lead to playback problems - they may playback OK initially but will eventually unbalance the DVD or cause heat/playback probs

@Krynn,

It is recommend to use only high quality media such as genuine Taiyo Yuden "Made In Japan" (authentic Yuden can be found on the FUJI 8X DVD+R & SONY 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan" only), Verbatim (MCC002, MCC003 & MCC004), and Maxell DVD+R "Made In Japan" for dvd movies backups. With that being said, it (they) will last longer knowing that they're top notch media with higher quality, and it will save you tons on money down the road.

Things to check/look out for are:

01) is your dvd burner's firmware up-to-date? If you're not sure, then go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php and get the latest firmware for an update on your burner's firmware. This will likely solve the problem most of the times - not only that, but it will increase the compatibility to read other (new) media and its codes better.

02) how old is your stand alone dvd player? If it's 1 1/2 or 2 years old, then the chance is pretty slim to read/play any new kind of media, especially the DVD+Rs. You'll need to change the "book type" and or "bitsetting" of theDVD+R into a DVD-ROM format when using DVD Decrypter or Nero to burn, so it'll be easier on older dvd players models. If your dvd burner is capable of changing the "book type" then convert all the DVD+Rs to DVD-ROM is one of the best and safest way to go.

03) do you have either InCD or Roxio installed on your system beside Nero? If you do, then you'll need to get either InCD General Clean Tool (for InCD) and Roxio Zap (for Roxio) to completely wipe out all of its products from your system. Once you're done with that, then restart your computer and try to burn it again.

a) to get rid of InCD, go here http://ww2.nero.com/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html and save it on a folder, then run it to get rid of InCD.

b) to get rid of Roxio, go here http://www.downloadjunction.com/product/store/15199 get it and run it to clean out Roxio from your system.

c) to completely uninstall Nero, go here http://ww2.nero.com/enu/General_CleanTool.html and getit to clean out all of Nero's products from your system.

d) once you're done with the above steps, download the latest from Nero Ultra 6 (package #1 & #2 only), now reinstall Nero only back on your computer, restart your computer and try to burn it again with some high quality media as mentioned above at no higher than 4X of speeds.

NOTE: do these steps only if your DVD burner is capable of changing the "book type" and or "bitsetting"

(((Here's how to book type using Nero Burning Rom)))

01) open up Nero StartSmart, then click on Nero Burning Rom
02) EXIT out the "New Compilation" when it pops up
03) click on "Chooses A Recorder" (it's a small burner icon next to (I) and the arrow down)
04) click on "Options", then on "Book Type Settings", set to "Automatic" and click "OK" - that's it... easy as smoking. Now every burning using a DVD+R disc your Nero will automatically change the booktype into a DVD-ROM format.

(((Here's how to book type using Nero Express)))

01) open up Nero StartSmart, then Nero Express
02) now click on "Copy Entire Disc"
03) click on "Options", then on "Book Type Settings", set to "Automatic" and click "OK", then "Exit" out. That's it... easy as sipping on some Corona. Again, now every time when you burn, Nero will automatically change your DVD+R into a DVD-ROM in prior to the actual burning process.

NOTE: you only need to set the "book type setting" on Nero once. So, if you book type it with Nero Burning Rom already then you don't need to do it again on Nero Express or vice versa.

Again, I don't recommend you to use Memosux aka Memorex (CMC MAG) and Prodisc. However, I highly recommend you to use Taiyo Yuden (and ONLY the Fuji 8X DVD+R & Sony 8X DVD+R Made In Japan), Verbatim (MCC003 & MCC004) and Maxell "Made In Japan" for your next/future dvd burning.
