I wonder if anyone can help a newbie rip a Band of Brothers DVD to VCD.

The DVD has 2 episodes of the series on it. The first episode is 70mins and the second 55mins (or thereabouts).

I am using the DVD Copy Plus package from 321 Studio.

I can rip [using smartripper] and make the MPEG [DVDx] for the 1st episode (because it's the largest file), but nothing I do seems to allow me to rip or make the 2nd episode.

Please help and KISS (I'm not very technical).

My PC? Intel P4; 2.8Ghz laptop with built-in DVD/CDR-W.

Thank you very much.

Where is the problem ? just use Smart Ripper, and go through the Segments it found in your VOB's till you find that second episode, if you say it's 55min then you should find something of the same time length, select it, and rip it

I think you misunderstand my problem (maybe it's in the wrong forum too). I have selected the (smaller) second chapter and ripped it but when I open it in DVDx it says that it can't be opened. No problems with the 1st episode though. Any ideas why or what I'm doing wrong?

Instead of using DVDx, did you try using DVD2AVI > TMPGEnc on it ?

OK, I used DVD2AVI and that seemed to work then I tried to use TMPGEnc. After a little trial & error I worked out I should be encoding the D2A file and off it went. (It wouldn't load the .avi files at all.)

The problem is, when I then look at the file after TMPGEnc had done it's work, the picture's fine but no sound (this must be the stage 'jzkbbi' got too).

NB: When I used TMPGEnc I loaded the file as the Video source (rather than the audio), but I'm sure when I've used it in the past to create MPEGs of downloaded movie avi files I loaded it as the audio.

I must be doing something wrong, but can't for the life of me work out what it is. Help! :-(

I ripped part one and part two of the first disk seperately using smart ripper. You can't rip both at the same time. You must select each one seperately in Smart Ripper.

At first, I was letting smart ripper make 1 gig .vob files, but only the first one would have sound when I played the .vob file with a dvd player. I let smart ripper make just one .vob file and the problem went away.

Now, I have parts 1,2,3,4 ripped, and all play perfectly on my computer.

How do I get this to a DVD?

@Cybernet, D2V is only the video of the movie, if you used DVD2AVI correctly, you should also have a WAV file, and that is to be used as Audio

@both of you, follow from this step in my guide:
