I've seen them and never thought to ask. Just recently i tried making back ups and they are not running.

using fuji film 8x and/or verbatim 16x media

do i have to do anything with these MDS files ever? school me on them.

Media Descriptor CD Image File
This file is used by several different programs. It generally is found with an .ISO CD image file and is the equivalent of what a .CUE file is to a .BIN image.
In what ever software you're using, make sure select "all files" when browsing for your image. Load the .MDS file and burn.

Alcohol 120% is the main program that uses the files but there are other options like DVD Decrypter that can handle both although it creates ISO files rather than MDF files.

but when burning i usually only select the ISO. do i ever have to do anything with this MDS file?

Using DVD Decryptor, I know that when you burn to disc you are meant to select the MDS file.

o rly? select the MDS file instead of the iso?

i get an MDS files when copying a disc. when i get ISO from other means (yeah...) i usually do not get a MDS file.

Yes, with DVD Decrypter select the mds.

alright. but what about when a game gives me two MDS files? so i select the smaller file? most MDS files i see are 5kb

2 files, a large one and a small one. When using dvd decrypter select the small file. It sounds silly but thats the way it works. If you mistakenly select the large one, dvd decrypter will tell you, then select the other for you. Here's some more info:

alright. i'm going to give it a shot for the copies i'm having trouble with.

but in the past i've selected the larger files and had no problem. whats with that?
