I noticed today that in an earlier post someone had posted a piece of software for unlocking Motorola phones. I'd like to give a little advice and tell people to not use that software with their phones. If I'm no mistaken, that software will change your IMEI when your use it to unlock your phone. Your IMEI is your phone's unique identification number, and it's illegal to change it. Additionally, changing your IMEI voids the phone's warranty, and if Motorola or your Cellular Service provider find out they probably won't be too happy.

I think the reason why the software does this (changes the IMEI) is because rather than unlocking your phone like commercial software (bypassing security features to unlock), this software simply overwrites your firmware. If you want a legal, and more reliable service for unlocking your phone, there are lots available on the ineternet for very reasonable prices.

There are two types of commercial services avaialble for unlocking Motorola phones -

1) IMEI unlocking - uses your IMEI number to provide you with a subsidy password, that will unlock your phone when typed in with your phone's keypad. Definitely the best method to use - but usually expensive and often unavailable. If IMEI unlocking is available then the most reliable site to use is [ADVERTISEMENT REMOVED]

2) USB Cable Unlocking - There are quite a few cheap unlocking services available on the web that make use of a piece of software and a USB cable to unlock your phone. You need to make sure that the software the company is selling is reasonable. Probably the best and cheapest service for USB cable unlocking is available from [ADVERTISEMENT REMOVED]

I hope this information helps people decide about using online services to unlock their phone. Stay well and enjoy your phones...

Best way to unlock Razr v3 is to call your provider and tell them
that u are travelling to europe and u need to unlock the phone.
After couple of days they will provide you the number. Sometime
you need to call them few times. I was able to unlock all our Razrs
(5). from T-mobile. Good Luck
