Don't have any help for you about this game as I haven't got it yet. But a word of advice ... I noticed you have posted the same questions on different threads a few times, this could get you banned by the moderator. Just post the question once and hopefully someone will answer the question for you.

good luck on your question and welcome to the forum

I got it to work last night. The first time I used Nero to make a copy and I used TDK DVD-R 8x burned at 4x. It would get stuck at intro. I then tried to use DVD decryptor and made and iso and burnt with 4x ritek dvd. So far works fine and i played it fora half hour. Sometimes those TDK dvds work sometimes the Riteks do..... no consistancy

Okay,

I'm normally one that rebuilds games myself, thinking "just incase." Well, Ultimate Spiderman is the first game to cause a problem after I rebuilt it. As said in another post, the intro to the game stuttered visually, but the sound was fluent.
So, I went back and just burned the original image of the game. It loaded superbly, smooth and vivid as could be.
Don't waste your time rebuilding this one. Oh yeah, I use Swap Magic 3.6 with the new Slimline PS2 system.

End game,

I've tried everything with ultimate spiderman it freezes and sounds skip really bad even tried using tdk discs which someone mentioned earlier. I usually use verbatim with no problems. I think its the dummy file thats screwing it up I had the same problem with Fantastic 4 but I found the patch at swapmagicfix.com but there isnt one for this game. Already wasted about 5 dvds.

Try a rebuild: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id4.html#rebuilding In some rare cicumstances you may need to burn at 8x. FMV heavy games have a habit of spinning too fast for the disc to keep up. And if you're simply deleting the dummy file and reburning, it won't work. don't listen to tokjin he only repeats what he reads.

what burner and media ya use? i recommend a 1620/1640 burner. media use taiyo yuden -r or +r.

burn speed doesn't matter with the new burners. it's the PIF count. i notce they start to start to skip when there's a lot of spikes. my burns of tyg02 and yuden00t02 are less than 100 all the time perfect burns.

Yeah I've got better things to do than quarrel with middle schoolers. People have successfully backed up Ultimate Spiderman so it can definitely be done. And burn speed does matter. Liquidus is the only person I have ever seen who says that. Maybe with his burner it doesn't, but in general you don't want to burn games at 16x. Most games will burn at 1x, 2x, or 4x. Rarely you may need to burn above 4x, around 8x or so.

Its an I/0 Magic 8x Dvd+- burner have had no problems burning games before, but was just recently playing x-men legends 2 which i burned about a month ago and skips in New York could have been cuz I was playing it too long the night before. No one has the patch file for this to get rid of the dummy file?

Check the rebuild guide I posted above. Some people have had issues with this game being rebuilt. The whole point of rebuilding is manipulating the dummy file. Your using SMD 2.0, yuck. It boots so that's not the problem. I'd say due to the difficulty you've had with this game take a shot at burning at 8x. And definitely try rebuilding.

Yeah Liquidus does know his burners, but I don't think this is a hardware issue. Are you using DVD-R's or +R's? What Speed are you burning at? Also what version PS2 do you have? Check here: http://www.chipzone.com/versions.cfm V.1-4 have a difficult time with DVD+R's. V.8 and later tend to work with better with +R's. Post some more info. Those three questions solve most problems.

I agree. I use Tayo Yuden DVD-R now. When I started this topic I was using TDK and Ritek DVD-R. I had read the forums to get a consensus that TY discs are the best and I have to agree. all my old backups would load up but freeze at some point in the game. When I reburnt the iso to TY discs I have had no problems with the 30+ burns I have done in the last 2 weeks. My recommendation is use TY discs.

I have copied around 100 games. The only things I use are DVD Decypter, Verbatim DVD-R, Burn at 8x. The only games I have had to rebuild are DVD9 games. I'm no expert but the only reason I see to rebuild a game is to make a DVD9 fit on a DVD5 it has nothing to do with a DVD5 copy working or not.I made a copy of ultimate spiderman and it works fine from the first burn.I use CogSwap and MEM Card Exploit. The only game that did not work for me was shadow of rome, but I loaded it on my PS2 HDD and it works fine.(did not feel like wasting disks so only tried once) Hope this helps.

Burn at 4x and see what happens. Shouldn't need rebuilt, From Pretense: Burning speeds aside, part of your problem might stem from the fact that you don't have a complete ISO -- clearly, your image is rebuilt, since the actual game DVD has a TOC of 3.84 GB. This might be affecting your game experience as well; in fact, I have a strong suspicion this is the case.

You may be right, but it'd make a lot more sense to rule out the media and burn speed first. Most people don't have $40 to drop on a new burner. Why waste the money if it's not absolutely necessary? He hasn't tried rebuilding, burning at different speeds, or different media. I have come across threads where verbatim DVD-R's had compatibility issues with certain burners and switching to another media resolved the issue. It's a lot cheaper to buy a 5 pack of DVD-R's than it would be to buy a new DVD burner.
