Ok I have several Divx/Xvid videos on my PC and I've have begun to notice that when I play the file on my PC, it plays fine, all of the picture is visible. However after I use VSO divx2dvd The picture is a bit cropped on the sides. I noticed this when I started a movie and the opening credits where cut off. Now I kept all of the settings default and that includes the aspect ratio, if I were to select force 16:9 would it keep from cropping the picture, or would it just stretch it out? when I load the video it pops up in the shape of a wide screen movie however there are no bars above or below the pic.
As always any help is appreciated. Thanks

When on default, meaning automatic, it would automatically set the aspect ratio, and framerate according to what XviD movie is. Forcing it wont change anything, you can not create the picture that was cut off, unless you want a streched image, understand....With the framerate, some programs got interlacing stuff, that I think doesn't help. You probably stuck with a PAL with 24 fps. So anyway, your original source is what you have to stick with...

If you are talking about when viewing the resulting DVD on your TV then it sounds like overscan.

Thanks for the info, and if I'm stuck with a slightly cut off image oh well, but does anyone one know how to resolve a problem like this even if you have to use a completly different program? This hasn't been a major issue for me but you never know what the future may bring, and I'd like to know anyway.

The solution to overscan is to pad your video, that way the padding instead of the picture gets cut off.

Interesting, how would I go about padding a video file?

Add black borders/bars on all four sides.

I have never padded a video before could you please be a bit more detailed. Is there a particular program to use, are there any crucial steps I should follow to avoid catastrope. How do you do it?

I would use AVISynth with a resize filter and addborders, however that is not compatible with DivXtoDVD.
