Is there a way to preserve the menu in join function? I am trying to grab two episodes off of a 3 episode disc because the compression is too much for the three episodes. I did a join, but it links the second program right after the first so you have to fast forward through all the chapters to get to the second episode. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or, do you know a way to recognize the menu and save it? Thanks.

you could try elbys CloneDVD (search on google)

that gives you the option of removing part whilst keeping the original menus

You can try VobBlanker, it takes a bit to get used to, but its free,

You can also try DVDRemake

Can CloneDVD, VobBlanker, or DVDRemake be used with a Mac? If not, what kind of software can you use on a Mac to not include some bonus features, but keep others, to get your size down to avoid too much compression?

Dimadsoft advertises about the very thing you want to do. DVDReMake Pro even has instructions on how to do it. At least they had something along those lines on the info page. You may want to check it out to see if that's what you're looking for. Here's a link to their info page. http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/info.php A program like DVDLab Pro would probably do the job, but the learning curve for operation is a lot steeper and with a heftier pricetag.
