Is it possible to connect a 1394 equiped DVD recorder to copy directly to my PC?

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to do this as firewire is a 2 way connection device. I know that my recorder a Liteon 5005 can control the basic function of my Panasonic mini-dv camcorder, but would it be possible to control my DVD recorder with a software application like Nero Vision? I guess i try it and post again if it works or doesn't. Any feedback would be appreciated as I see possibilities here.
