Being a part of team at AD I'm curious to how each member determines which program they use for Dvd Copying? In my situation I typically use Dvd Rebuilder Pro with CCE Basic as the encoder for back-ups that are below 85%, but for the backups that are higher than that I mix it up using Recode 2, Intercopy 3 and CloneDvd 2. How do you determine your program selection? Compression ratio? Movie only or Full disk or Movie with menus?
Thank you for your input and exoeriences.

MovieDud that is a good question I will be watching to see as I have problems with movies over 2.5hrs using shrink they skip and when I burn these I usually do movie only I try to look for no more than 65% ocmpression because I have found if shrink goes closer to 55% movies pauses and stutters or is of poor visual quality. I am looking forward to responses. I recently got an eval copy of Nero 7 and have been using vision express really like it and I am mostly a Roxio user...Okay I know there are better progs and I cerainly use alot of freeware, well this post should get interesting.

I use DVDSHRINK or DVDDECRYPTOR with AnyDVD running in the background on everything. I always just back up the movie only. The only time I back up the whole dvd is when I can do it at 100%. I only burn at 4x even though my burner will burn faster. Never have a problem backing up anything or playing anywhere.

hi Moviedud...... I have basically 2 proggies that I use...... the first one is DVDRebuilder with CCE! same as you! but.... I only use that program if DVDFab Express compression is less than 80% or so. then I use RB! But with episode DVDs such as TV shows I use Decrypter, then Remake, then RB to finish it off! I used to use Intervideo3 but it started to give me hassles so I stopped using it.

i started out with Shrink and Decrypter and as i only ever do movie-only the movies tend to stay up in the high percentages, compression-wise. i tend to mainly buy older films i've missed over the years hence these programs are still (for me) more than sufficient. For instance I still haven't needed to try dvdfab whatever it's called but i try to follow all the threads.

I think the only 2 films i had to mess with were Batman Begins and Sahara and all i did was do deep analysis with Batman; and Sahara i think i did the same. The few times i do concert dvds or episodic, Shrink for me is fine (even at a compression ratio of low 60% or whatever); ps the only episodics i do are 60's stuff like Thunderbirds etc, where the original video wasn't exactly pinsharp quality to start with; i did Chili Peppers at Slane Castle - that one was i think 55% and using Shrink without deep analysis etc it came out beautifully

I must mention the VSO programs.... whenever I use RB I burn with CopyToDVD! excelent program..... now getting into Blindwrite and DivXtoDVD. I will experiment with ISOBuster when needed. I use Shrink or Remake to do those flipper disk movies or to combine Disk1 and Disk2! I have guess it all depends what I want or need to do to make the disk! There are so many programs out there but I can say there isn't any movie out there that I can't handle as of now! hahaha

@Creaky.... I do old movies too! DVDFab Express does a great job for just movie only! it's easy and simple and quality is great. Even has burning speed option so it comes out great! My 692nd movie was GRAPES OF WRATH and my 726th movie was SOUTH PACIFIC! I will be doing all the old John Wayne movies and Jackie Cooper, James Cagne, and other old time players like them!

I have used Blindwrite. Works fairly well, just seemed to be too slow. Shrink was much faster.

well i went a purchased media creator 8 from roxio/sonic, its very bloated and robust with lots of options so it will be awhile testing it out but i have been using Nero 7 and have fallen deeply in love with Nero vision express its really great with good video creating and supports all the major file formats. I am convinced though that there is alot of freeware that is more valuable than all these programs I use them more and more and although no one freeware has evertyhing you need they often do such a great job because they are focused one task not lots of bloated software I will never use. My favorite feeware is dvdfab decrypter and zip genius 6 becuase it un rars files well thats all for now

Posted by Dan Bell on 24 October 2005 - 22:08 - Source: VSO Software

california girl used our news submit to tell us that VSO has been busy updating a few of their suite of recording products. When I read the update information, I had to resort to Google for a definition, because I had never seen the word "amelioration" but the word ameliorate is derived from Latin ad + meliorare, "to make better," from melior , "better."
