I dont know if this would be the right way but a recorded a 4 hr music disc using my dvd recorder. How can I take that disk and take all of the video out and just keep the audio to make a cd. Or is there a easier way in doing this?

Here, using a freeware product,

1. Download Smart Ripper

The rest is compliments of Minion,

" I use SmartRipper for Ripping Audio tracks from a DVD....

What you do is First go to "Settings" to "file Splitting" and set it to "Max File Size" and then set the Max File size to "9000mb" ...

Then go to "Stream Processing" and remove the Check marks from all of the Subtitle, Video and audio tracks accept for the Track you want to rip, then Highlite the audio track and select the "Save to Seperate File" Option...

Now when you rip the DVD it will rip as just the Audio track you wanted save as a seperate file.....
After you have extracted the Dolby AC3 audio File you can downmix it and convert it to a Wav audio file useing something like "PX3" which is a Simple AC3 to Wav decoder that you can download on this Page:

http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/showsoftware_ac3towav...

You should also make sure you have an AC3 codec installed on your PC which you should if you can watch retail DVD"s on your PC, But if not you can download a good one on this Page:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ac3filter/ac3filter_0_70b.exe?...
"

Good luck!

Simple use this little tool MP3MYMP3. You can download it here. http://www.mp3mymp3.com/

This will record any sound on your pc and encode it in wav or mp3. I've used it it's free and works well.

2nd option would be to run audio cable to pc at pc you will need adapt rca left and right to 1/8 mini plug. Now you got direct sound pluged to line in on sound card or moterboard (on board sound card). From here you can use an aray of music players which all have a record feature like windows media player, musicmatch, winamp, realplayer ect, ect, ect.

Good Luck

thanks guys, all of theses are great. But I have to say that spacedust idea is the easiest of them all. It was a no brainer even my 10 year old could do it. MP3MYMP3 is the best thing to come next to dvd decrp and DVD Shrink. wow
