Hello! Hoping my first post would be something other than a cry for help, but alas! ^^;

My problem stems from the fact that recently, both DVD Shrink and DVD Decryptor, inexplicably, as they are backing up the VOB files, quit just as it's about to finish, giving me an error saying that it ran out of room on the drive it was putting it on. Both programs do this with a variety of DVDs, both new and a few years old, from different companies. And I know it's not a matter of hard drive space because the drive I'm saving them to, my D drive, has over 100 GBs left.

So can someone help me figure out why it's being so frustrating? I have tried reinstalling both programs to no avaii. =/

The only comforting thing is that neither program spits out the DVD from the drive before it backs it up anymore. -.-'

Sorry for the double post, but I just noticed in my DVD Decryptor log that it says my HDD is FAT32, which means it has problems with files larger than 4 GBs. Is that what's causing the error?

I thought I'd read somehwere though that DVD Decryptor would split the file into two chunks if that were the case. Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks. :)

Rip in iso mode then open the mds file in Shrink if it is bigger than the 4.3g limit. It might be wise if you think of converting over to NTFS.

Hmmm...

The problem also exists that I'm not trying to reburn these, but rather, that I want to take the .VOB files and later convert them into MPEG-4 to use on the PSP I hope to get soon.

I'm not too familiar with DVD Decryptor, but I'm guessing that ISO mode does just that: it places it into a .iso file? In which case, it would provide even more obstacles to jump through to get it converted... =/

And you mention NTFS; can you explain a bit more about that?

Sorry for all the questions. ^^;

If you are using XP here are some article on NTFS file system. Once converted you will no longer have problems with the larger files. I converted my spare drive from Fat32 to NTFS with no problem and did not lose any of the data on the drive, however it is a good thing to backup all your files just in case. I used DVD's to do this because the hold more.

As stated you can use Decrypter to rip in iso mode that will break the file up in chunks for a Fat32 drive. Then all you have to do is open the MDS file in Shrink to compress it if it needs this. If your image is below the 4.3g limit then just use Decrypter to burn in iso write mode by opening the MDS file.
