Having trouble copying vcd's on my hardrive to cdr

Hi,

I have some vcd movies saved on my hardrive and i cant seem to burn them to a cdr that i can watch on my home dvd/vcd player (i can watch them on my computer).
i have tried using nero's 'make a video cd' option but it seems to want to convert a dat file or do something to the dat file that looks like will take a very long time.
I was wondering if the vcd on my hard drive is an exact copy of a vcd with all its folders eg. cdi, ext, mpegav, segment, vcd etc, should'nt it be easy to make a straight copy of it?
Ive also tried to copy it as a data disc but the copied cdr will not play on my home dvd/vcd player.

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thx
