Alright, I've just gotten FFX-2 done and it has the following files.

FINAL_FANTASY_X_2.ISO - 3.70 GB
FINAL_FANTASY_X_2.MDS - 4.22 KB

So I use ISO Buster to look into it, they have the exact same files in them.

Those files add up to a total 4.27 MB, I thought that was strange enough that an almost 4 gig ISO file had only 4 meg in it.

So I looked it up here and found out about MDS files, so I burned the MDS to a dvd, just like I usually do for ISO files, loaded it in with Swap magic and got an error, so I reburned it using the extracted files from the ISO this time, but now all that happened was a high pitched whining noise from the PS2.

So my question is, are the files just corrupted or something?

You've probably got it by now but if you haven't, try this. The mds files don't get burned to disks. It tells software info about the game file, which is what actually sticks to the disk.
I'm guessing for a moment, but try this: open the mds file using a word processor (notepad) and there might be a directory listed where the iso should be. Make sure your iso is in that directory and open it (the mds) with the software of your choice. One thing though, I'm not sure this game is a straight rip. It may require rebuilding. Do a search for the game before you waste a disk on it.

I have an issue with the game too. It blows. LOL. But seriously, try burning it again with DVD Decrypter on good media at a slower speed. As for rebuilding it (or any other Square game I think) you can't. As you noticed when you open up the ISO you can only see about 4kb of the files. The rest of the games files are invisible/unretrivable as of yet. So no rebuilding.

Make sure your laser is clean, make sure you have good quality media, the burn with DVD Decrypter at 4x or slower.

My copy didn't work. I ripped it like any other game and everything seemed fine but it doesn't load.
