I receive a message indicating that I have reached the number of times I
can active DVD X COPY Gold.

I believe that I have only actived this software once previously.

How can I fix this problem?

In my case, I ditched xcopy altogether, bought AnyDVD and use DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink (both freeware) and have never looked back. I never have to worry about newer encryption schemes with AnyDVD and with DVDD and Shrink I have greater control over the quality of my burn. Used in conjunction with excellent media (Taiyo Yuden) the results blow away anything I ever burnt with xcopy.

Here is the thread from the Xcopy forum that instructs you on how to request more activations, you will have to fill out a trouble ticket and wait for them to get back to you.
