xbox goes directly to ms dashboard

was playing game on modded xbox and it updated xbox live. then it went to the ms dashboard and then when i turned off and then back on the xbox wouldnt go the the normal program on the box that i could choose my games,music, or movies. the box was premodded so i dont know much about the whole situation. please help me
