I have started getting the Disk Read Error from my gameshark and I was told it is probably the laser that cant read it.

Is there anyway to backup my gameshark onto another disk or as an iso image file and putting it onto my hdd so I can load it straight from there??

Or if I have to where can I get a NEW original ps2 without a bunch of extras??

you can make a gameshark back up.. its the same way you back up a ps2 DVD-R

the only way you would be able to play it

PS2 machine modded with Messiah Pro 2 or a magic chip in side your ps2

...Or a matrix infinity chip, or a DMS 4 Pro or Ezi chip.
Also, you can't run gameshark from a hdd.

Wow thats not good info for me. I will try to at least put a cleaning disk in and see if that helps and if not I have no idea.

The cleaning discs can scratch your lens. As long as your-semi coordinated I reccomend opening the PS2 up and cleaning the lens with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Here is a step by step guide: for cleaning: http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Guides/ps2diy/3.html For opening up: http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Guides/ps2diy/2.html Good luck.

The main thing you wanna watch is the eject ribbon (silver thing running from DVD housing to eject button), I almost severed it my first time cleaning it, as long as you lift the console up slowly from the back, you'll be okay. My POS PS2 is 4 years old and still works great. I clean it once every 6 months or so. Good Luck. I am assuming of course you don't have a slimline, as I have no idea how to clean it.
