This being my first post ever,i just wanted to do something useful and to STOP FOR ONCE AND FORALL THE SAME STUPID QUESTION:"How do i backup my PS2 games?" or "I need step by step guide in backing up my PS2 games, thanx".So please READ the GUIDE before asking those or other related questions,PLEASE.That said heres the ULTIMATE GUIDE TO PS2 CD/DVD BACKUP!!!

CD Backup:
You will need Alcohol 120% or Nero.

If burning with Alcohol 120% follow these instructions:
Start up alcohol 120% and choose Image making wizard or something like that(forgot the name).Next insert your PS2 CD based game in your CD ROM or CD writer.Next choose on the disk type dropdown box Playstation 2.Next i think you need to choose the destination of your mds image file.(As in where you want to store you image file).Next keep clicking next until your game starts to copy to your hardrive.Let it finish(as in DONT CANCEL THAT PROCEDDURE).When its done, remove the game disk from wherever drive you had it and insert a blank CDR in the CD writer, then choose in alcohol 120% image burning wizard(or what its called,i keep forgetting the name of that button). Now browse for the image file that ur burning and when you find it choose the smaller size file.Next choose in the disk type drop down box Playstation 2 and then choose the slowest speed possible and then set the burn mode to DAO/SAO(both of those are crucial into making a more readable backup).Next just simply burn those.Let it finish(it may take a while depending on the size of the disk your trying to copy)when its done take it out and test it out.If you have swap magic remember to use the CD-Rom disc NOT the DVD-Rom disc.If it works congrats,if it doesnt too bad, read the guide and try again.

If burning on Nero follow these instructions:
Firstly start off by choosing the option that lets you make image files(it varies from version to version so i cant make and exact guide). After you make the image file of your PS2 CD game (the file extension can be .nrg or . iso)Choose the option that lets you burn previously created image files.Insert your empty CDR in the CD writer then browse for the image file you just created and dont forget two choose the slowest speed possible and that its NOT MULTISESSION.Next just simply burn it.When its done test it out.

DVD backup:
For DVD backup THE BEST program to use is DVD Decrypter, hands down.
Forget what other people say.If their methods work for them...well they work for them.Just use DVD decrypter. Its the Best.Ok now,on to backing up.

Start DVD Decrypter and insert your PS2 DVD game in the DVD writer(and yes,for all you noobs out there, you NEED a DVD WRITER for DVD games,so dont ask). After you insert the game, select in decrypter's top buttons the button named MODE then a box should come up then choose ISO then another box should come up and choose READ.After you have done that click on the DVD icon in the botton and the read proccess should begin(DO NOT INTERRUPT).When its done remove the game from the writer and insert a Blank DVD-R(DVD+R work but DVD-R seem to work better)and do the same button clicking as above but at the end instead on clicking READ click on WRITE and choose the slowest speed possible then click on the DVD icon below. When its done test it out.If your game doesnt work it could be one of 3 things:Your game needs a patch, the media that your using or how you back up the game.Search the forums on games that need patches,in the media department try using DVD+R,different brands and STAY AWAY FROM CHEAP MEDIA.But the most common problem is how you backup the game.read the guide for anything that you missed and try again. Also it could be that the game that your trying to backup is Dual Layered(DL).I cannot help you with DL games but im working on the subject.

Well thats all you basicaly need to know about PS2 game backups.
Any questions ask them here.If your going to use this guide in another web page, book etc. please contact me first.

I think he meant to say "can't" instead of "can" but yes you can copy PS2 games to CD read the tutorial on how to tell the difference of the discs, or you can just pop it into a DVD Writer to see what kind of disc it is and the filesize.
